Louise Feroe has been named acting chancellor of the Connecticut State University System, The Associated Press reports.
Feroe, currently senior vice chancellor for academic and student affairs, was named to the post by the vice chairman of the state university board of trustees on Wednesday to take over March 1 upon the retirement of David Carter.
Her promotion was announced the same day Gov. Dannel Malloy announced a sweeping proposal to overhaul the state’s college system by consolidating the various boards into a single board of regents and combining the various central offices into one.
Feroe has been with CSUS since July 2008. She is formerly president of Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
A search has been launched for a permanent successor to Carter.
CSUS is comprised of Central, Eastern, Southern and Western Connecticut State universities.
