For the second time in two years, a restaurant in West Hartford has closed within a year of its opening. Crush Wine Bar, which marked its official opening in October, has announced plans to close on Sunday.

In a post to its Facebook page on Thursday, the restaurant stated that “despite our best efforts with the changing business landscape, we were unable to reach an agreement to continue operations in our current location.”
The restaurant, which served small plates of food with its wines, is owned by Springfield, Massachusetts-based Bean Restaurant Group. Company officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Bean also owns Union Kitchen at 43 LaSalle Road in West Hartford, as well as 11 restaurants in Massachusetts, including Student Prince in Springfield and Johnny’s Tavern in Amherst.
The Facebook post does not state how many employees Crush Wine Bar has or whether they will be offered positions at other restaurants owned by Bean.
Crush Wine Bar closing 10 months after it opened makes it the second restaurant in that location to close within a year. It succeeded Halfway, which was owned by the same restaurant group and opened in May 2023 before closing the following May.
In its Facebook post, Crush added that it is “going out with a bang,” offering a “cool natural wine festival” on Sunday. The festival will feature the opportunity to taste more than 45 wines and offer a special a la carte menu. Crush said that tickets for the festival are limited.
