Stamford electric supplier parent Crius Energy will purchase Houston energy retailer TriEagle Energy for $22 million, the Connecticut company announced.
The purchase gives Crius another 200,000 residential customers in Texas, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, giving Crius a total of 800,000 customers in 20 states.
The deal is expected to close in the second quarter, funded by cash and credit.
The acquisition is Crius’ largest since its initial public offering in 2012. Its other brands include Viridian Energy, Public Power, Cincinnati Bell Energy, FairPoint Energy, and Citra Solar.
