CRIS Radio volunteers honored at Governor’s Mansion

CRIS Radio volunteers, pictured above, were recently honored for their long-standing service at a reception held at the Governor’s Mansion in Hartford. The 36-year-old, Windsor-based nonprofit is Connecticut’s only radio reading service for people who are blind or print disabled. CRIS also provides audio versions of articles featured in nearly 70 newspapers and magazines, including children’s and Spanish-language magazines, thanks to the dedication of more than 300 volunteers. In addition, volunteers also provide audio versions of the Common Core State Standards and custom educational materials requested by schools for students with special needs.
