Craigslist Crusade

Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal led a multi-state task force that pressured craigslist to more closely monitor online postings to block overt sex solicitations and pornography.

Blumenthal said craigslist notified him that it will eliminate the erotic services section within days, replacing it with a section called “adult services.” Craigslist also promised to screen ads posted there to ensure they meet new guidelines.

Former Boston University medical student Philip Haynes Markoff allegedly used postings on craigslist to lure female robbery victims. Markoff is accused of murdering a 26-year-old masseuse after contacting her through one of the ads.
