Connecticut Congressman Joe Courtney says he is returning to his three key committee slots related to military facilities and preparedness, along with a new agriculture committee assignment when the 112th Congress resumes.
Courtney said he will be the 12th most senior Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee.
He also returns to two subcommittees important to his district: the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over the U.S. Navy, and the Readiness Subcommittee, which overseas military installations.
In addition, Courtney will serve for the first time on the House Agriculture Committee.
As co-chair of the Congressional Dairy Farmers Caucus, which he co-founded in 2009, Courtney said he will address key farming issues in eastern Connecticut, including the flawed milk pricing system.
