Richard Graziano, publisher of the Hartford Courant and general manager of Connecticut Fox affiliate WTIC-TV is leaving to take a job with another Tribune-owned property in New York City, the company announced.
Graziano will become president and general manager of WPIX-TV, the Tribune Co. said in an announcement. He took charge of Fox-CT in 2005 and became Courant publisher in 2009. He was also in charge of WCCT-TV in Waterbury.
The Tribune said Nancy Meyer, chief revenue officer for the Courant, will take the publisher spot at the paper.
The Tribune credits Graziano for integrating Fox-CT and the Courant into one location in 2009.
Graziano sent an email to staff about his promotion calling it “bittersweet,” but said he’s proud of Fox’s expanded news programming and of upgrading the station from a previous studio he described — “delicately” — as “bush league” to one that is state of the art.
“We broadcast nine-and-a-half hours of live news a day, the most in Connecticut,” Graziano wrote.
