Cornell Scott-Hill Health launches new Elm City location

The Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center on Monday formally launched its new location in New Haven at the Dixwell Community House, known as the “Q House.”

Several city and state officials participated in a ribbon cutting and celebration for the Dixwell Health Center, at 197 Dixwell Ave.

Michael R. Taylor, CEO of Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center (CS-HHC), said he is grateful to everyone who helped the project happen.

“We are thrilled to be part of the Q House family of organizations, and look forward to continuing to provide quality integrated health care – including expanded services – to the Dixwell, Dwight, and Newhallville community,” Taylor said.

Center officials said the new clinical site will expand capacity and services, allowing it to better meet the New Haven community’s needs.

The Q House clinical location opened to patients earlier in June, after moving from its previous location across the street, where it had been for 25 years.

CS-HHC provides adult medicine, pediatric medicine, adult behavioral health services and dentistry to residents in New Haven, West Haven, and communities in the Lower Naugatuck Valley.

The Dixwell Health Center serves about 5,000 residents, who primarily live in the Dixwell, Dwight and Newhallville neighborhoods of New Haven.

With the Dixwell Health Center at the Q House, it is able to offer additional specialty services, including women’s health, infectious disease treatment and podiatry, with plans to offer more healthcare services in the future, officials said.

CS-HHC is also building a new Recovery & Wellness Center in New Haven, which will offer short-term living and outpatient services for people with substance-abuse disorders and mental health illnesses. That center, on Minor Street, is slated to open in early 2024.
