Cigna Corp.’s president and chief operating officer David M. Cordani has been elected to the health insurer’s board of directors, the company said today.
Earlier this year, Cordani was tapped as the successor to current CEO H. Edward Hanway, who will retire at the end of the year.
With the addition of Cordani, Cigna’s board has increased to 13 members.
Isaiah Harris, Jr., who is the current vice-chairman of the board, will become the independent chairman of the board once Hanway leaves his post.
“We extend a warm welcome to David as the newest member of Cigna’s board of directors,” Hanway said. “David’s personal integrity and passion for Cigna’s mission to improve the health, well being and sense of security for those we serve will benefit our Board and all of Cigna’s stakeholders.”
