Control Module touts car charger’s handicap accessibility

Enfield manufacturer Control Module Inc. is hailing its electric vehicle charging stations as exceeding expert recommendations for people with disabilities.

CMI touts a report released in February called Electric Vehicle Charging for Persons with Disabilities as showing that products such as CMI’s electric vehicle chargers meet with the latest standards.

The company’s design features an overhead charging cable that automatically lowers to a height compliant for people with disabilities. The cable automatically retracts once charging is complete.

The federal government has no set standards specifically for electric vehicle charging stations, but CMI designed its chargers to be in compliance with U.S. Department of Justice general design standards.
