Construction women elect

Zoe Belcher, a project manager with HRP Associates Inc. in Farmington, has been elected president of The Professional Women in Construction, Connecticut Chapter (PWC-CT).

Laurann Asklof, a principal at the law firm of Gordon, Muir and Foley LLP in Hartford, was chosen vice president. Jessica M. Samios, director of business development and an associate at Fuss & O’Neill EnviroScience LLC in Manchester, becomes secretary and Carolyn Kurth, director of forensic accounting, auditing and consulting at Sheptoff, Reuber & Co. PC. in Glastonbury, was named treasurer.

Elected to the Board of Directors are Kathryn D. Pappas, assistant vice president/branch manager for Webster Bank in Rocky Hill,; Jennifer N. Buchanon, geotechnical engineer at Haley & Aldrich, Inc., in Rocky Hill; Roxanne Perugino, a senior project planner with Diversified Project Management in East Hartford; Patricia Bilotto, senior director of marketing for Panolam Industries in Shelton; and Melissa M. Roy, who is responsible for project development at Consigli Construction Co. Inc. in Hartford.

13 honored in Bridgeport

The Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce, an affiliate of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council, honored 13 firms as part of its 12th annual Business in Bloom Awards program.

Recipients of the award are chosen for their commitment to “grow” their business in Bridgeport by expanding their investment, reinvesting in their commitment to Bridgeport’s future by staying in their neighborhood, relocating to Bridgeport, going green or beautifying their grounds. 

Honorees include:  American View Productions, Bagel King of Bridgeport, Barnum Publick House, The Bijou Theatre, BNC Financial Group, Franny’s Pizza, Hibachi Buffet, Melt Market & Café, Questback, The Schwerdtle Stamp Co., TD Bank, Trefz Properties and Wholesome Wave.

A Westport attorney has been named chair of the Connecticut State Committee of the American College of Trial Lawyers.

Trial lawyers pick Silvestri

Frank J. Silvestri, an attorney with the Westport-based business law firm Levett Rockwood P.C., has been serving as vice-chair of the committee in addition to being a member of the college’s federal civil procedure committee.  He steps up to his new role in October.

The Committee confidentially investigates and nominates individuals who have been proposed for fellowship in the College, with membership limited to one percent of a state’s lawyers. The Committee is also charged with developing access to justice programs and providing education and training in professionalism, advocacy, ethics and civility.

The Anti-Defamation League will honor the Robinson and Pava families at the Greater Hartford Torch of Liberty Award reception at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, in West Hartford. The award celebrates families who carry on a tradition of community service. Curtis and Sheila Robinson are the founders of the Curtis D. Robinson Men’s Health Institute at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford. Ann and Jeremy Pava were two of the founders of Hebrew High School of New England in West Hartford. Other members of the family are active in publishing, education, religion and law… Cantor Colburn LLP partner and litigation department co-chair William J. Cass was a speaker at the recent White House Symposium on Additive Manufacturing, addressing intellectual property issues in additive manufacturing technology… Leonora Cajigas-Rodriguez, day program activity director at Mulberry Gardens of Southington, was recognized by the Connecticut Assisted Living Association with its Outstanding Resident Service Award. Among her accomplishments is the Mrs. Senior Mulberry Pageant, which has become one of the signature events for residents and day center members of both Southington and Marian Heights locations.
