Construction company owner sentenced to 7 months in prison for tax fraud

The owner of Webster, Massachusetts-based Kalinowski General Construction Inc. will spend seven months in federal prison for tax fraud.

Mariusz Kalinowski, 48, of Woodstock, was sentenced by  U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford on Wednesday. Following the prison term, Kalinowski will serve one year of supervised release and pay a $16,500 fine.

Kalinowski General Construction provides residential and commercial construction services in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

According to authorities, Kalinowski failed to report $927,828 in income from his business
on his personal federal tax returns, which resulted in him failing to pay about $174,746 in taxes. He has since paid that money to the IRS, authorities said.
