As an institution that is all about learning and science literacy, it is central to our mission to offer visitors, educators and students the opportunity to experience, first-hand, green energy technologies. And, as an important economic development initiative for the city and the state, we want the Science Center’s energy practices to communicate Connecticut’s dedication to preserving and protecting important natural resources, and to serve as a symbol of pride for our residents.
The Science Center has an inherent duty to be green — it’s simply the right thing to do. We are a go-to resource: one visitor may want to know how to reduce her carbon footprint and to save water at home; another may want to teach his children about the importance of recycling. Thanks to the support of hundreds of corporations, foundations, and individual donors, our hands-on exhibits, 3D movies, and educational programs can affect important change, one visitor at a time.
