It’s been a tumultuous time for the leadership of Connecticut Innovations, but today the state’s technology venture capital organization named Peter V. Longo president and executive director.
Longo, currently deputy director of CI and the organization’s acting executive director, has been with the agency since 1995. In that time, Longo has served as controller, chief investment officer and executive vice president. In the past year, Longo pioneered the Pre-Seed Support Services Program and the Seed Investment Fund, two key programs for entrepreneurs. The agency also closed nine new investment deals.
Ned Bowman, chairman of the Connecticut Innovations board of directors, said in a statement: “Our top priority was to name a president who will guide Connecticut Innovations and our portfolio companies to even greater success. Peter’s solid performance as chief investment officer demonstrated to the board that he has the knowledge and experience needed for Connecticut Innovations to continue delivering solid results for the State of Connecticut.” Â Longo is the fourth CI president in the last year and a half.
