Waterford-based Dicin Electric Company Inc. recently received national recognition as the U.S. Small Business Administration’s “Small Business Subcontractor of the Year.”
SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman announced the top government contractors last Friday.
The women-owned electric company is best known for marine and pier facility projects. Their services include pier construction, berthing facilities for submarines and installation of electrical distribution systems.
“The federal government depends on small businesses to innovate, drive competition, and deliver products and services to support critical agency functions such as national defense and disaster recovery, as well as to implement the Biden-Harris Administration’s historic investments in infrastructure, clean energy and more,” said Guzman.
Cynthia Elaine Hersom took over as the sole head of the company in 2015. Over the last seven years, the company’s profits have doubled from $6 million to $12 million, according to the announcement.
The company increased its bonding capacity to $15 million.
Hersom also served on the Women’s Business Development Council Southeast Regional Advisory Board from September 2018 to May 2021.
Dicin was one of three companies to be honored, with Colorado’s Delta Solutions & Strategies and Puerto Rico’s Multi Air Services Engineering Corp also garnering top government contractor recognition.
