A national survey of the most beautiful college campuses in America founded Connecticut College in New London and Yale University in New Haven were in the top 100.
Michigan collegiate ranking service Best College Reviews ranked Yale as No. 16 of all institutions of higher education nationally while Connecticut College came in at No. 96.
Connecticut College, founded in 1911, was praised for its number and variety of trees and its Georgian architecture. Yale, which moved to New Haven in 1718, was praised for its Gothic Revival architecture at its 837-acre campus.
The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., which was designed in part by Thomas Jefferson, was No. 1 in the ranking.
