Connecticut Children’s Medical Center ranked As Best Children’s Hospital

For the sixth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford as a top hospital in the new 2014-15 Best Children’s Hospitals rankings.

Connecticut Children’s ranked No. 44 in urology and No. 48 in diabetes and endocrinology services. 

The Best Children’s Hospitals rankings highlight U.S. News’ top 50 U.S. pediatric facilities in various specialties including cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes, endocrinology, and gastroenterology, among others.

Eighty-nine hospitals ranked in at least one specialty, based on a combination of clinical data and reputation with pediatric specialists.

Konover Commercial Corp.’s Jones Achieves LEED Certification

Konover Commercial Corp.‘s Chief Building Engeinneer David B. Jones has attained the designation of LEED Green Associate through the U.S. Green Building Council.

Certification as a LEED Green Associate requires coursework and demonstrated understanding of current green building principles and practices.

Jones earned a diploma in HVAC from New England Technical Institute and holds a D-2 HVAC license and a Universal Refrigerant Certification in Connecticut.

In 2012, Jones was recognized as the Engineer of the Year by the Greater Hartford Building Owners and Managers Association for superior operations management, contract compliance, and preventive maintenance efforts. 

CT engineering firm lauded for hospital roadway improvements

Engineering firm Tighe & Bond was recently awarded the 2014 Transportation Achievement in Civil Engineering Award by the Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers for a roadway improvement project associated with the development of Bridgeport Hospital’s Park Avenue Campus in Trumbull.

The roadway improvements — including the addition of a modern roundabout — were done to support traffic generated by the Park Avenue Campus and address existing operational deficiencies along the Park Avenue intersections with the Merritt Parkway ramps (Exit 47) in Trumbull/Fairfield.
