ConnDOT to offer traffic updates via phone

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is offering smartphone apps giving traffic and rail information and updates, becoming the first state agency to provide a mobile service.

Via the apps, businesses and motorists can access highway traffic cameras, view advisories, link to Metro-North and Amtrak rail services, find schedules, fares, bus routes, and more public transportation information.

The apps range in cost from free to $2.99 for iPhones and Androids. They are available on www.ct.gov/dot by scanning the Quick Read or the QR code.

ConnDOT is the first state agency to offer mobile phone apps, answering Gov. Dannel Malloy’s call to use technology to make state government less expensive and easier to navigate, said ConnDOT Commissioner James Redeker.
