Conn. joins petition urging aircraft emission regulation

Connecticut, along with several other states, is petitioning the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for regulation of aircraft emissions.

The petition urges the EPA to take immediate action in adopting rules that set emissions standards to control and limit the emissions of greenhouse gases from aircraft.

Concerns that new Federal Aviation Administration flight paths that route more large planes over the southwestern portion of the state are damaging the region’s environment. Attorney General Richard Blumenthal sued the FAA last month for failing to acknowledge the impact of the new flight paths on the state.

Others signing on to the petition are California, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C. and New York City.
