Conn. investment firm buys Penn. manufacturer

A Connecticut-based investment firm has bought the Hodge Foundry, one of the oldest manufacturers in Mercer County, Pennsylvania.

Silverhawk Capital Partners bought Hodge through its Cleveland-area company, Elyria Foundry. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

The Cleveland foundry produces castings for refrigeration equipment, pump and valve components, and transmissions.

Hodge Foundry, which employs 175 workers, is an attractive investment because it produces heavy iron castings used in the growing wind energy industry.
