Hartford area home sales finished the summer on a strong note in September despite buyers and sellers taking longer to close deals, Realtors say.
Single-family house sales rose 17 percent to 1,045 units last month vs. 892 in September 2014, the Greater Hartford Association of Realtors (GHAR) said Monday.
It took an average 84 days from new listing to closing, to sell a house in the area in September, eight days longer than it took to close the same month last year, the association said.
Condominium sales rose 6 percent to 237 units vs. 224 a year earlier. The average days to close a condo sale was 11 days longer last month than a year ago.
“It’s been a strong summer for the greater Hartford housing market in terms of sales,” GHAR CEO Jeff Arakelian said.
Prices, meantime, for both housing categories were mixed. The median sale price of a house in the region was flat at $218,000 vs. $220,000 a year ago.
However, the median condo sale price last month was $155,000 vs. $142,500 the same month last year, Realtors said.
