Con Ed acquires CT solar installer

A division of energy giant Consolidated Edison said Thursday that it’s acquired Fairfield-based Ross Solar Group for an undisclosed amount.

Ross, which serves the commercial and residential markets in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts, is now a part of ConEdison Solutions — an energy services division of Con Ed that offers renewable energy, efficiency contracts and other services. The company sold its retail electricity and natural gas business to Constellation last year.

ConEdison Solutions CEO Mark Noyes said in a statement that Ross bolsters his company’s ability to serve regional demand and also adds installation capabilities.

Ross was founded in 2007. Last year, a Solar Power World ranking said the company installed 2.5 megawatts of solar panels in 2014.
