State Comptroller Nancy Wyman is projecting the state will round out the 2008 fiscal year with a $150 million surplus.
An increase in wages and income tax collection has increased her estimate by $50 million from last month.
Though Connecticut lost 700 jobs in October, mainly in manufacturing, the state gained 20,000 jobs overall from 2006. Through October 2007, average hourly earnings in the state grew by nearly 4 percent and average weekly hours of employment also increased over the last year.
