Comcast opens Xfinity branch in West Hartford

Digital video-voice-data services provider Comcast quietly opened a state-of-the-art Xfinity customer-service/retail center in a former Blockbuster Video outlet on New Britain Avenue in West Hartford.

The 6,000-square-foot facility anchors a 9,800-square-foot retail center at 1253 New Britain Ave., at the corner of South Main Street. Dunkin’ Donuts and a tobacco shop also occupy the building.

Comcast officials are mum about specifics for the Xfinity facility, including how many employees are there. A grand opening is set for later this year.

The brightly lit, colorful interior is filled with signage and features chairless customer-service stations that could be duplicated in Comcast’s older branches.

The space had been vacant since Blockbuster left in 2010.
