Comcast announced it's expanding its network infrastructure in Waterbury to serve business customers.
Construction is already underway on the network buildout, with completion expected in early 2026, the company said. The project will extend Comcast Business offerings such as multi-gig internet, Ethernet, voice, mobile and cybersecurity services across the city.
Waterbury Mayor Paul Pernerewski said the project will help local firms compete and may attract new businesses to the area by providing access to faster internet and additional technology services.
Comcast said the work is part of a broader investment in Connecticut, where it has spent more than $500 million on technology and infrastructure upgrades over the past three years. That includes a recent expansion in Bridgeport that brought Xfinity and Comcast Business service to about 62,000 new homes and businesses.
Comcast is one of the largest broadband and wireless providers in the U.S., serving millions of residential and commercial customers nationwide.
