Colin Eccles is joining Webster Bank as executive vice president and chief information officer – a new post — at the Waterbury regional lender, effective next Wednesday.
The 25-year veteran was CIO for the past four years at commercial banking-services vendor Umpqua Holdings in Portland, Ore.
Eccles worked for the First National Bank of South Africa, his homeland, before joining Hogan System, a Dallas banking software vendor.
Later, he worked for Computer Sciences Corp. and Washington Mutual Bank (WaMu) for seven years before joining Umpqua.

Eccles is a graduate of Witwatersand University in Johannesburg, with a masters degree from the University of South Africa.
