The Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y., donated nearly $20,000 to My Sisters’ Place, a Hartford organization working to end homelessness, as a result of its annual golf tournament.
This year marked the ninth annual foundation golf tournament to benefit MSP. Each year, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage sales associates and staff come together to help raise money for this cause.
The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain has awarded $201,960 in second-round grants serving its four-town service area of Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington from discretionary, donor advised and scholarship funds. The foundation awards grants on a three-time basis and each year distributes upwards of $1 million or more to nonprofits in its service area. Funding traditionally supports a wide variety programs and initiatives in arts and humanities, community and economic development, early childhood development, education and health and human services.
The Northwestern Mutual Foundation is announcing a $10,000 grant for Lea’s Foundation for Leukemia Research Inc. in recognition of Northwestern Mutual financial representative Nicholas Stamboulis’s dedication to the organization. In honor of his contributions, the Northwestern Mutual Foundation is naming Stamboulis an “Outstanding Volunteer” in the company’s national Community Service Award program, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary.
Since the program’s inception, nearly $3 million has been contributed to almost 300 nonprofits throughout the country.
“Our financial representatives are deeply committed to serving their communities and in Hartford, Nicholas has led the way,” said Edward J. Zore, chairman and chief executive officer of Northwestern Mutual.
The Community Service Award program is open to more than 9,000 Northwestern Mutual employees, recognizing exemplary volunteer involvement and dedication to charitable organizations and philanthropic projects. Stamboulis is one of 25 winners nationwide who were named in the annual competition. Through the program funded by the Northwestern Mutual Foundation, more than $275,000 will be donated this year to various nonprofit organizations.
