Colchester net manufacturer InCord has installed a 120 kilowatt solar system that exceeds the company’s electricity needs and will feed power back onto the main electric grid.
The 504-panel array produces enough energy to meet 90 percent of the company’s annual energy needs and 100 percent of its electricity needs.
With a 25-year life, InCord believes the solar system will more than pay off the cost of its investment, although financial terms were not disclosed.
The system monitors itself through a computer interface that can feed power into the building or onto the power grid depending on how much electricity is produced and needed at any one time.
