Connecticut’s business climate is the fifth worst in the country, falling one spot from 2013, according to an annual ranking by CNBC.
The state’s fall from 46th to 45th came despite Connecticut’s unemployment rate shrinking from 8 percent in May 2013 to 6.9 percent in May of this year. The state ranked highly in the education and access to capital categories. It didn’t fare as well in the economy, cost of living, and cost of doing business categories.
Connecticut has fallen steadily in the CNBC rankings, from 31st in 2007.
The top state this year was Georgia, which overtook South Dakota, which fell to 11th.
