Berkshire Bank named 30 employees to its Community Service Honor Roll. Those employees eligible for the honor roll completed a minimum of 150 hours of volunteer service in the last calendar year. LeeAnn Morrone of Newington and Ryan Shorette of Hartford were Connecticut honorees.

Hospital for Special Care (HSC) awarded $37,000 in scholarships to nine area students for their academic achievements in medicine, physical therapy and nursing. HSC scholarships are funded through the Hospital for Special Care Foundation Inc.'s Annual Giving Program, gifts of hospital employees, and, in part, through the Advancement for Nursing Endowment Fund.

Ryan Matthews (center), executive director of The Susie Foundation in Beacon Falls, was selected as a 2017 Myra Kraft Community MVP Award second prize winner by the Kraft family and the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation. The Susie Foundation received a $10,000 grant in honor of Matthews' volunteer efforts.
