Connecticut Light & Power warns its customers to be wary of solicitors going door-to-door claiming to work for the electric utility.
CL&P representatives do not solicit door-to-door, and if anyone from the company is out in the field, they carry company-issued photo ID badges. There is never a need to show anyone an electric bill, the company said in its warning, as handing the bill over can lead to identity theft.
Anyone approached by a person claiming to be from CL&P who asks for a utility bill should call the police.
