CL&P sends 2,700 customers wrong bill

Problems with billing technology at Connecticut Light & Power’s headquarters in Berlin sent the wrong electric bill out to 2,700 customers.

The electric utility fixed the problem last week and sent out new bills with a letter explaining the problem this week, CL&P spokesman Mitch Gross said.

The issues arose only with those customers using a supplier other than CL&P for their electricity. The competing suppliers sent new pricing information to CL&P headquarters, and that information was misread by faulty technology, Gross said

“This problem was internal, and we fixed it internally,” Gross said.
