CL&P encourages high schools to go green

Connecticut Light & Power is offering up to $35,000 in prizes to encourage state high school students to develop sustainable, environmental projects to help their schools go green.

The Live Green — Win Green contest is in its third year and is restricted to schools within the CL&P service area. Students must assess their school’s conservation methods and propose a project to increase that conservation.

The winning school will receive $20,000, and three runner-up schools will receive $5,000 each. Entries must be made by Jan. 31.

“Once again, we are expecting a wide variety of entries from across our service area,” said Jeff Butler, CL&P president and chief operating officer, in a statement. “It’s wonderful to see so many schools stepping up to our challenge and I know the judges will not have an easy time choosing the winners.”
