Berlin electric utility Connecticut Light & Power will award grants up to $1,500 for communities to fund environmental initiatives.
The initiatives funded by the CL&P Environmental Community Grant Program tend to be those overlooked by large-grant programs. Previous winners include the Southbury Land Trust, which used a grant to purchase materials for a boardwalk over an environmentally sensitive property.
The deadline for applications is Sept. 15 and is limited to those from communities served by CL&P. Projects using funds from other outside sources will not be considered.
