A United Technologies executive will take over the top spot at Clipper Windpower, the California-based wind turbine manufacturer UTC acquired a large stake in earlier this year.
Clipper’s former president and CEO Doug Pertz has resigned and was replaced by Mauricio Quintana, who was most recently director of corporate strategy and development at United Technologies Corp., which is based in Hartford.
The development came after United Technologies in January acquired a 49.5 percent stake in Clipper.
Clipper, which is headquartered in London and Carpinteria, also forecast an operating loss in the second half of 2009 and the full year due to turbine shipments that were deferred because customers lacked project financing. It predicted 2009 revenue of $740 million.
The manufacturer also forecast an operating loss in the first half of 2010 but said business should improve and break-even results are expected for the full year.
