As part of the Energize Connecticut initiative, the town of Clinton on Thursday signed a pledge with the Clean Energy Communities program.
Clinton is promising to decrease municipal energy consumption by 20 percent and use 20 percent renewable resources by 2018. Clinton joins more than 70 other Connecticut towns in the program.
By participating in energy-saving programs, Clinton is eligible for earning rewards points from the Clean Energy Finance & Investment Authority. For every 100 points earned, the town will receive the $10,000 Bright Idea Grant for any energy-saving project. The town currently holds 72 points.
On Sept. 26th at the Henry Carter Hull library, residents can learn about energy efficiency during the Home Energy Solutions workshops.
