The state Department of Consumer Protection thinks this poker stuff is going much too far. Last month, Connecticut’s Division of Special Revenue warned against illegal poker tournaments. Today, DCP Commissioner Jerry Farrell Jr. got in the game, issuing a stern warning to liquor stores and other liquor permit holders that, if illegal poker games are going on in their establishments, they run a grave risk that their permits might be in jeopardy. Farrell said all unauthorized gambling is a violation of state criminal statutes.
