In anticipation of next Wednesday’s partial reopening of New Haven’s economy, the city’s Economic Development Administration and Department of Health in cooperation with the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Corp. of New Haven will host Friday morning Zoom conferences for business owners with questions about the May 20 reopening. (That will likely include many if not most business owners.)
The sessions will offer business owners information about what they’ll need to do and procedures to follow when they reopen next week, such as mask-wearing, social distancing and sanitation designed to safeguard the health of both customers and employees.
The information sessions are organized by industry sector. Advance registration is recommended (links below). The Friday morning schedule:
• Commercial office owners/property managers will confab virtually with city officials from 10-11 a.m. To register for this session click HERE.
• Hair salons/barber shops will meet from 11 a.m. to noon. Advance registration, click HERE.
• The sessions for restaurants/outdoor dining establishments will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Register HERE.
City restaurants that did not have outdoor dining facilities before the March shutdown will need a permit from the city to set up accommodations beginning Wednesday, particularly those that use public rights-of-way including sidewalks and parking spaces on city streets. Information about applications for those permits will be available at the noon session.
In all cases those who register online will receive a confirmation e-mail containing information about and a link for joining the appropriate Friday session.
