Citizens Bank Connecticut amd Rhode Island President Edward “Ned’’ Handy is joining Rhode Island lender Washington Trust Bancorp Inc. as president and chief operating officer.
Handy assumes his new post in late November, Washington Trust said Friday.
Meantime, David V. Devault was promoted to vice chairman, secretary and chief financial officer. Joseph J. MarcAurele stays chairman and CEO.
Handy was president of Citizens Bank, Rhode Island since 2009, and president pf Citizens Bank, Connecticut, since 2010. Both are divisions of RBS Citizens, N.A.

Handy, who lives in East Greenwich, R.I., began his banking career as a commercial banker with Fleet Bank.
