Citizens Bank Foundation grants $7,500 to The Horace Bushnell Memorial Hall Corporation

The Citizens Bank Foundation recently granted $7,500 to the Horace Bushnell Memorial Hall Corp. to support the organization’s Partners in Art and Education Revitalizing Schools, or PARTNERS program. PARTNERS provides arts-in-education programs to classrooms throughout Hartford and neighboring towns, as well as access to the Bushnell Children’s Theatre. Through the arts, PARTNERS ensures students learn in ways that meet their own unique cultural, social, emotional and intellectual needs.

Hartford Foundation Grant supports job training for unemployed

 The Latino Endowment Fund of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving recently made a $20,000 grant to the San Juan Center of Hartford. The San Juan Center provides clients in its training and employment program with a counselor who develops a plan to address unemployed individuals’ job skills. Services include development of resumes, free computer training and clothing for job interviews.

The San Juan Center was founded in 1971 as a bilingual, multi-service agency designed to develop programs in social services, employment training, housing, access to health care, arts and culture, and to engage in business development on behalf of the Puerto Rican/Latino population of Greater Hartford.

CMHA receives $25,000 from Walmart Foundation

Community Mental Health Affiliates has received a $25,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation to enhance the health and quality of life for children in the agency’s intensive outpatient programs in New Britain and Waterbury. The donation will support CMHA’s Child & Family Services Afterschool Snack program, which provides children who struggle with behavioral issues with nutritious after-school snacks.

SBM Charitable Foundation awards $87K to Visiting Nurse & Health Services of CT

The SBM Charitable Foundation recently awarded an $87,050 grant to Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut Inc., a not-for-profit organization that provides home health, hospice and community-based health care. The funds will support a telehealth program that helps meet the medical needs of low income and vulnerable patients by providing clinical services remotely (at no cost to the patient).

VNHSC also recently received a $3,000 grant from the BJ’s Charitable Foundation. VNHSC will use the grant to purchase food for the Meals on Wheels program. The agency’s nutrition program delivers food to vulnerable, low income and at risk populations living in Andover, Bolton, Coventry, East Hartford, East Windsor, Ellington, Manchester, South Windsor, Tolland and Vernon.

CT Children’s Medical Center awarded $50K grant

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a charity that raises money for childhood cancer research, has awarded a one-year infrastructure grant of $50,000 to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. This grant is one of 39 infrastructure grants awarded as part of the Foundation’s fall grant cycle, totaling more than $2.2 million in pediatric oncology research.

Buffalo Wild Wings awards sports grants to Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford

Buffalo Wild Wings recently awarded a $2,000 grant to Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford for an All Stars flag football program. Buffalo Wild Wings committed to a minimum of $650,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2013 to fund All Star programs around the country. The national partnership also includes education and training programs for administrators and volunteer coaches to use across all team sport programs through the National Alliance for Youth Sports, a nonprofit focused on creating positive and safe team sports experiences.
