A Hartford-based development team has been chosen to develop city-owned land at Park and Main streets into a mixed-use development that will include retail and residential space, the city said.
Following an RFP process, the city’s Department of Development Services recommended a development team that includes nonprofit developer  CIL and Amenta Emma Architects.
Their plan includes erecting four, four-story mixed-use buildings, on Park and Main streets –just south of downtown — and townhomes along John Street, the city said.
The buildings’ upper floors will be targeted at young people working downtown and in the Trinity/Hartford Hospital/State Capitol area; empty-nesters; and families looking for affordable housing opportunities, the city said.
The conceptual plan also calls for amenity and retail space on the first floor, the city said.
