John Murabito, human resources chief for Bloomfield health care giant Cigna Corp., has been named chairman of Cornell University’s Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies.
The center is a partnership between industry and academia, devoted to global human resource management.
Murabito, Cigna’s executive vice president for human resources, has been active with the center, also known as CAHRS, for 15 years and a member of the board for the past 10.
The CAHRS partnership provides the connection between leading companies and Cornell, offering companies the opportunity to work directly with top faculty and students to participate in, influence, and be the first to learn about new research findings and applications.
“I am honored to have been chosen for this distinction,” Murabito said in a statement.
Murabito said that one of his main goals will be to increase the value CAHRS brings to its member companies.
With impending retirements about to take their toll, he said he also wants to beef up the group’s leadership and to expand its footprint globally.
