Philadelphia managed care provider Cigna Corp. is sweetening the charity pot to encourage its 24,000 employees – including those in its Bloomfield claims headquarters — to stay fit by participating in healthy community events, such as runs, walks and cycling events.
From now on, community groups nationwide that sponsor such public fitness events are eligible to collect a $100 grant for every Cigna worker who participates, CEO David M. Cordani announced Tuesday.
The program is an expansion of Cigna Foundation’s Community Caring awards that encourages volunteerism among Cigna employees by offering $200 grants to charitable organizations where employees volunteer 20 or more hours a year outside of work hours.
