Cigna, which has major operations in Bloomfield, today announced the appointment of Robert Hughes as chief financial officer for Cigna HealthCare.
Hughes, who has been with Cigna for more than 20 years, will oversee all financial aspects of the health care business.
“Bob’s mix of financial and health care knowledge makes him uniquely experienced to fill the lead financial role for our largest business,” said Mike Bell, Cigna chief financial officer. “I know Bob’s operational talents will be of tremendous value as we strengthen our competitive position.”
Before this job, Hughes spent eight years with Cigna International as senior vice president and chief financial officer. In 2007, he became senior vice president and managing director of Cigna International HealthCare Benefits.
Before joining CIGNA in 1985, Hughes was a senior auditor at Arthur Andersen & Co. He received a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University in 1981 and is a certified public accountant.
