Bloomfield insurer Cigna Corp. said Thursday that it has completed its acquistion of British travel insurance coverage provider FirstAssist Insurance Services from Barclays Private Equity in a move to broaden its business overseas.
Cigna said the deal will help it expand its individual business in the United Kingdom and globally.
FirstAssist provides travel, health, employment and legal-related insurance and has nearly 3 million policy holders in the United Kingdom. It employs about 480 people.
