David Cordani, CEO of Bloomfield health insurer Cigna, earned an additional $1 million, or 7 percent, in compensation in 2014, Cigna said in a U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission filing.
Cordani’s official compensation was $14.5 million, up from $13.5 million 2013.
His salary and option awards during the year increased, while stock awards and non-equity incentive plan compensation decreased.
In addition to Cordani’s officially reported compensation for 2014, his exercised stock options and vested shares during the year had a total value of $23.9 million.
Cigna earned $2.1 billion in net income last year, up from $1.48 billion in 2013.
