A 6,755-square-foot church on nearly 4.4 acres in Hartford’s upscale West End neighborhood has been placed on the market with an asking price of $1.87 million.
The First Church of Christ, Scientist, property at 235 Scarborough St. is being marketed by real estate services group Goman + York as an opportunity for a wide range of uses.
In addition to continued religious use, the property could be used by a school, community center or nonprofit, according to Goman + York. With the appropriate zoning adjustments, the property could also be used for multifamily conversion or redevelopment, according to Goman + York.
Goman + York Principal Tom York said the church continues to use the property, but is looking to make a move to a new setting in the Greater Hartford area where it can consolidate its sanctuary in Hartford and its reading room in West Hartford. York is also assisting the church with its search for a new property.
