Our Mission: Chrysalis Center provides supportive services to assist people in need to transform their lives.

Chrysalis Center is a private, non-profit, socially innovative, multi-service organization that serves individuals and their families living in the State of Connecticut. Chrysalis Center helps those living in poverty, veterans, women and children, young adults and individuals struggling with mental health, addiction, HIV/AIDS, chronic homelessness and those returning from incarceration.

Our mission is to assist people in need to transform their lives. “Getting help, Getting better, Giving back” is our motto. The philosophy of Chrysalis Center is based on a partnership at all levels. This philosophy allows clients receiving services, and their families, to have an active voice and role in reaching their personal goals. Our services include: Community Support Services and Case Management, Community Employment Services, Community Supportive Housing, Community Recovery Services and Community Connections.

Fundraising Events/Opportunities

All Chrysalis Center events and fundraising activities are advertised with detailed information on our website, via email, social media outlets, and by postal mailed invitations with sponsorship opportunities. Several special events, such as the annual Butterfly Bash, are supported by corporate sponsors, advertisers, and ticket sales. Chrysalis Center’s fundraising events include:

• Yard Goats Baseball Game

• CT Sun Basketball Game

• Birdies for Charity

• Annual Butterfly Bash

• St. Philip House Comedy Night

• Annual Christmas Tree and Wreath Sale

• Annual Empty Bowls Event

• Donation Creation Food Drive for Freshplace

Giving Opportunities

Chrysalis Center sends direct appeal letters to supporters twice a year. We utilize social media to share our mission and ask for support and share opportunities for support on our website. We seek corporate support for all of our events, particularly with the Annual Butterfly Bash.

Throughout the year, we request in-kind donations for food for Freshplace, our food pantry. We seek donations of food and organized food drives through the “Families Feeding Families” program. We also ask for in-kind donations of small household items to help clients move into their first home as they transition from homelessness to housing. During the holidays, we seek special in-kind donations of new toys, clothing, personal care and small household items for clients. We request items through social media, e-mails and mailings.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are one of Chrysalis Center’s greatest strengths. Last year, more than 600 individuals gave of their time and talent by volunteering. We often seek help for Freshplace, our food pantry, which gives volunteers the opportunity to work directly with the clients to assist them in selecting nutritious food, preparing résumés, and with job searches.  In addition, volunteers help organize and execute activities for client families, host food drives, at special events and help maintain our indoor hydroponic garden and outdoor gardens.
