Q&A:
What do you do in your current job? I lead a high-performing team collectively accountable for the management and execution of the personal insurance auto strategy at Travelers.
What are your goals in your current job? My primary goal is to help our business be as efficient and effective as possible, while becoming more flexible in our delivery approach, all while ensuring the projects my team is leading are completed on time and on budget.
What's your biggest passion? I am passionate about helping people reach their full potential. Children, peers, young professionals, nonprofits, the city of Hartford — it's extremely important to me that I have a positive impact on the people around me and the broader community in which I am a part of.
What are your future professional aspirations? I hope that the intersection of my passion for people and the desire to positively impact our business puts me in a position to take on bigger challenges, while continuing to affect my ability to influence change over time.
How are you involved in the community? Being an active, engaged member of the Hartford community working to make our city a better, more equitable place is important to me. Formally, I serve on the Connecticut Fair Housing Center board and as a commissioner for the Hartford Parking Authority. Informally, I support and am an active member of several other nonprofits.
If you had one wish to brighten Greater Hartford's economic future what would it be? I am optimistic for Hartford's future — improvements in housing, employment, recreation and education opportunities can lead to positive change. But I wish we could change the way many interact with the city. Disparaging Hartford has become the norm for many who live near it. My hope is we can all start to see how the success of Hartford — its businesses, people, institutions, etc. — helps everyone. Celebrating the things we have and what we can build together would be a much more productive use of our collective energy. This change of heart could change the future of our city, and with it, the future of our state.
List four reasons why you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty: I have spent 12 years with Travelers Insurance, working my way up through roles of increasing responsibility, while increasing my ability to positively impact the business. As an attorney and seasoned insurance professional, I can offer unique insight and experiences. I am proud to be an active member of the Hartford community in which I both live and work, including currently serving as the president of the board of directors for the Connecticut Fair Housing Center. I am an appointed commissioner for the Hartford Parking Authority, chairing the organization's property committee.
