Mold concerns at Cheshire High School have prompted several teachers to file workers’ compensation claims, and one says she is considering a lawsuit, The Associated Press reports.
Teacher Beth Rosenblatt’s attorneys notified the town recently that she might sue over health concerns she attributes to mold at the school.
She is among several teachers who filed workers’ compensation claims over the mold problems, which were discovered in late 2010.
The district spent about $82,500 to clear up the mold, which was traced to moisture around pipes in a crawl space under some classrooms in the 58-year-old building.
Rosenblatt’s attorney declined to comment on the possible litigation.
Cheshire’s school maintenance director says complaints have dropped considerably since they installed new ventilation, cleaned ductwork and added special air filters in some classrooms.
